North American Agriculture at a Crossroads

Hosted by the Farm Foundation

Over the past quarter century, the United States, Canada, and Mexico have built a highly integrated agricultural market, making North America a global leader in food exports. Intraregional trade in U.S. agricultural products alone has increased fourfold since 2000. Today, that model faces mounting pressure, from shifting trade policies and tariffs to climate volatility, growing global competition, supply chain disruptions, and evolving consumer preferences. The playbook has changed, creating both risks and new opportunities.

This session explored the policies, investments, and strategies required to preserve and strengthen North America’s agricultural competitiveness in the decade ahead.
