Training Season: Local Strategy for Industry & Talent in a Changing World

Hosted by Brookings

As new technologies, shifting supply chains, and geopolitical uncertainty reshape the global economy, North America is entering a new era of industrial transformation and opportunity. Automation and technological change are redefining where industries locate, how supply chains are organized, and what kinds of talent and capabilities regions need to compete. Rather than simply responding to these shifts, Mexico, the United States, and Canada—and particularly their states and cities—have an opportunity to shape what comes next.

This conversation will explore how states and cities can develop local strategies for industry and talent in a changing world: positioning themselves to attract investment, build the capabilities their industries need, strengthen supply-chain resilience, and capture emerging opportunities across North America. For Mexican states and cities in particular, the discussion will consider how place-based industrial and talent strategies can help them become critical nodes in the next generation of North American supply chains.
